Overview: This manually-operated apparatus, also known as the dish-type liquid limit instrument, is specialized equipment for determining the liquid limit of soils and is widely used in civil engineering applications. The device primarily consists of a brass dish, a hard rubber base, an impact mechanism (with cam and counter), and a grooving tool.
Driven by an electric motor, the dish drops at a rate of 120 blows per minute (tolerance: ±15%), with a built-in blow counter. Its core function is to determine the moisture content at which soil transitions from the liquid to plastic state.
